I substituted the traditional mayo or cream base, often used in chipotle sauce, for Greek yogurt which I’ve always got stocked in my dietitian fridge. Make sure not to skip the olive oil though! The first time I tested this recipe I left it out and it just wasn’t as smooth as I was hoping. Just 2 teaspoons of that liquid gold made all the difference to give this sauce rich flavor and a luscious pourable consistency.

Description

All you need is 5 minutes and 4 ingredients to make this ridiculously delicious chipotle yogurt sauce. Greek yogurt makes the perfect creamy and protein-packed base, with canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce bringing just the right amount of smoky flavor.  Blend it up for an instant upgrade to tacos, nachos, salads, fries and more (you’ll probably want to batch prep it for the week)!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (I like 2-5%)
  • 1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Juice of ½ lime
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Add yogurt, chipotle pepper, garlic, lime juice, honey, olive oil, and salt to a blender or small food processor and blend until smooth. Use right away or pour into a sealable jar or container and store in the fridge for up to 1 week.

Notes

Leftover Chipotle peppers: These chipotles come in a can with adobo sauce, freeze the rest in a ziplock bag, label it and save for later use.
