Ingredients for 4-Ingredient Honey Mustard Dip with Greek Yogurt in small white bowls, including greek yogurt, honey, mustard, and mayonnaise

Ingredients You Need For This Honey Mustard Sauce

Plain Greek Yogurt: Greek yogurt adds a creamy texture and a boost of protein to this dip. I like to go with 2-5% milk fat yogurt as I find it a bit less tangy and super smooth! Plus that bit of fat makes for a more filling and satisfying dip.

Mayonnaise: Mayo is the traditional base to honey mustard. While I find that yogurt works well as a sub for the primary base, I still like to add a bit of mayo for that classic creamy flavor. When combined, it’s the perfect mix! You can opt to leave it out if you prefer.

Honey: You can’t do honey mustard without the honey. It brings a perfect natural sweetness to the dip, complementing the tangy mustard perfectly.

Yellow Mustard: Yellow mustard provides the classic tangy flavor that makes honey mustard so irresistible.

Mistakes and Fixes

Sauce Too Thick: If your honey mustard dip turns out too thick, thin it out with a splash of water or milk until you reach your desired consistency.

Sauce Too Thin: If the dip is too thin, add a bit more Greek yogurt to thicken it up.

Sauce Not Sweet Enough: Adjust the sweetness by adding more honey, one teaspoon at a time, until you achieve the desired taste.

Nutritional Benefits (Nutrition by Addition)

Before I jump into the nutrition benefits of this honey mustard dipping sauce, I want to talk about the philosophy of nutrition by addition. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know I’m a huge fan of this philosophy focusing on what you can add to your plate versus what to cut out.

Often I talk about it in regards to an ingredient. Like, adding Greek yogurt into whipped chocolate mousse or fruit dip for an extra dose of filling protein. But it also applies to what you eat throughout the day, like adding a snack in between meals instead of “holding off” until dinner. Or adding some veggies to your plate for a bit of extra fiber and nutrients, rather than cutting out the pasta from your plate.

Let’s talk about snacking—it’s often overlooked, but incorporating snacks can stabilize your energy, reduce cravings, and prevent feeling out of control around food, which is often due to low blood sugar levels.

Clients in my Make Food Feel Good Program often tell me that this one simple change creates an immediate ripple effect. It improves mood, enhances their relationship with food, reduces binges and “overeating,” and decreases their preoccupation with food.

Alright, let’s take a look at some of the nutritional additions to this recipe!

Greek Yogurt: A powerhouse combo of protein, calcium, and probiotics, Greek yogurt supports muscle repair, bone health, and gut health. It provides a creamy base and almost 25 grams of protein per cup.

Honey: Honey adds natural sweetness that balances the dip out perfectly. It’s not just a sweetener but also adds a little dose of antioxidants, which help protect your cells from damage, and has been shown to have antibacterial properties, which can help support immune function.

Recipe, Kitchen, & Time Saving Hacks

Mixing Tip: Use a small whisk or fork to combine the Greek yogurt, honey, and yellow mustard until smooth and well combined. This ensures an even distribution of flavors.

Make Ahead: Prepare the dip in advance and store it in an airtight container in the fridge. It will stay fresh for up to a week, saving you time on busy days.

Versatile Use: This dip isn’t just for chicken fingers. Use it as a dip for veggies, a spread on sandwiches or wraps, a sauce for grilled chicken or fish, or even a salad dressing by thinning it with a bit of water, lemon juice or olive oil.

Flavor Boost: Add a pinch of your favorite herbs or spices, such as dill, garlic powder, or paprika, to customize the dip to your taste.
