Breakfast is often referred to as the most important meal of the day, and for good reason. It sets the tone for your overall well-being for the rest of the day. One of the key ingredients in this recipe is quick oats. Quick oats are a breakfast staple in our household. As a Registered Dietitian, I love cooking with quick oats because they’re a great source of fiber, keeping you feeling full and satisfied and packed full of energy, helping fuel your day. As a busy mom, I love that you can whip them up in 10 minutes or less like these Stovetop Golden Oats with Apple or Savory Oats with Poached Egg.
How to Make Stovetop Pizza Oatmeal
To make this quick and easy breakfast, all you need is quick oats, water, marinara sauce, pumpkin seeds, cottage cheese and your favorite pizza toppings. I like to add mushrooms, peppers, or tomatoes. You can also add some herbs like basil or oregano to give it more of a pizza-like flavor.
Here’s how to make this nutritious breaky:
In a small saucepan, bring the water and oats to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and let the oats cook for 2-3 minutes until most of the water has evaporated but the oats are still sticky. Stir in the marinara sauce and cottage cheese and cook until they are heated through, about 1 more minute. Remove from heat and top with pumpkin seeds and any other additional toppings.
